5: Drives Web Traffic

Think of social media as a gateway to your website making it easier for your customers/followers to find you online.

6: Social media lets you share A LOT about your business

Social media platforms are becoming the go-to place for consumers who want to learn more about a business. As these platforms allow businesses to offer the most up-to-date information about anything from products, services, or upcoming events.

THE DO’S AND DON’TS OF POSTING ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Don’t:

1: Post Too Much Content

One of the main reasons people follow businesses on social media is because they are interested in the services or products the business  has to offer. They want to be informed about current news, events, and any special deals a particular business has to offer, not how the weather is or how your lunch was.

2: Post Misleading Information

We all know how competitive businesses can get. Everyone wants to be better than the competition right? This is why many businesses land up exaggerating bits of information. Even though this may be tempting and draw in people temporarily, it can have a negative effect on your business in the long run. When building a brand it is important to build trust between your business and clients. Users that have a positive experience whilst following your page are more likely to share your page to their friends/followers, giving your business more exposure.

3: Post Insufficient Information

Social media has become the new directory for businesses/customers to find businesses that can offer them a product or service. So if you want people to connect with your business rather than someone else’s  you should ensure information is readily available and easy to find. No one likes having to find information. One of the worst things you can do for your business social media page is leaving out important information such as contact information, location, product or service information, and website links. So, don’t do it.

4: Post Content That Is Not Proofread

Incorrect use of grammar, punctuation, and misspelled words is enough to make them choose to go elsewhere . This makes your company look unprofessional and your social media look neglected. Can current and potential clients trust you to handle their business needs if you can’t manage your own social media page correctly ?

5: Inconsistent Branding

One of the most common things you find when it comes to business pages is inconsistency in branding. A business may use one colour scheme and logo on one page, while something completely different on another. This should not be done if you are trying to build brand recognition. People should be able to recognize your brand immediately, from your logo.  If you want people to take you seriously then you should ensure your branding is consistent across different platforms.

Do:

1: Post Content that evokes emotions

Feelings are a part of daily life for everyone, so it makes sense that content that evokes an emotional response will get a good reaction. But which emotions are the best ones to target? Awe, laughter, and amusement are at the top of the list, So give people something to laugh about!

2: Post Images

A picture is worth a thousand words, Images tell stories, and people love stories.Content that includes visuals gets 94% more views than content without. That’s because the brain processes things visually. If you want to draw your audience’s eye, images are the way to do it. When it comes to your images, nobody likes blurry, stretched images. Not sure where to get images to post? The best ones are the ones you take yourself. If that’s not an option, stock images are great too. But keep in mind with whatever you’re posting, make sure to pay attention to copyright!

3: Post Videos

If people love images, they’ll love videos, too. In fact, ⅓ of online activity is spent watching video content, and 92% of mobile video viewers share that content (Agency Nation). Video content is a great way to send your message in an engaging way. Live videos can give your followers an insight to  behind the scences of your business, which builds excitement and trust.  Videos are also memorable, so if you want a message to stick, make or share a video about it!

4: Post Lists and infographics

Your content needs to be eye-catching, if your content isn’t immediate eye-catching, people will scroll on by. It’s easier and faster to absorb small amounts of information than large amounts. Lists and infographics are the perfect way to do this! When you put information into a list ( 10 steps to success), people know exactly what to expect when they click through. Lists and infographics get shared more than other types of content (OkDork), so they’re a great tool for engagement!

5: Post Daily themes and holidays

There’s a hashtag for every day, #MadnessMonday, #Wikidwednesday, #ThoughtforThursday, #FactFriday. Daily themes are a great way to get your audience to engage! With a little pre-planning, you can have some great content according to themes your audience will love.

All of these are engaging content, which isn’t  directly linked to your products and services. This doesn’t have to mean you cant post about your business.

IF YOU HAVE
